Kevin and Nancy O’Connor Professor of Computer Science Kang G. Shin has been selected as the recipient of the 2023 Technical Achievement Award by the IEEE Technical Committee on Cyber-Physical Systems (TCCPS). The award recognizes the substantial and lasting influence of Prof. Shin’s contributions to cyber-physical systems research.

IEEE TCCPS is the leading international technical organization for researchers and practitioners specializing in cyber-physical systems, which integrate cyber components such as sensor networks with embedded computing to monitor and control the physical environment. The organization’s Technical Achievement Award is given to just one honoree annually and is meant to recognize individuals for high-quality, impactful research contributions in the area of cyber-physical systems made over a lifetime.

Prof. Shin has a long record of influential research in this area, having made numerous innovations in the integration of real-time embedded applications with physical systems in areas including energy storage, ground and space vehicles, low-power embedded operating systems, and more.
