Joy Dong receives Rackham International Student Fellowship

Juechu “Joy” Dong, a PhD student in computer science and engineering, has been selected to receive a Rackham International Student Fellowship for the 2023-2024 academic year. The award recognizes her outstanding academic record and will go toward supporting her continued research in CSE.

Joy is currently a second-year PhD student advised by Prof. Satish Narayanasamy. Her research focuses on computer architecture and systems, particularly the development of confidential computing systems and privacy-enhancing data analytics solutions. Some of her current projects include the scaling-up of trusted memory capacity and privacy-preserving, population-scale genomic analysis. 

The Rackham International Student Fellowship assists international graduate students that demonstrate excellent academic performance and potential, particularly those who may be ineligible for other kinds of support due to citizenship. Nominees are selected based on their strong academic record, progress toward their degree, and outstanding academic and professional promise. Awardees receive a sum of $12,990 that may be used for tuition or as a stipend.

With the support of this fellowship, Joy plans to further her research agenda in CSE, including contributing to the design of genome data analysis tools that enable point-of-care diagnostics while preserving patient privacy.
